Cameron Cockrell joined the faculty in the Department of Accounting at UNT in fall 2008 as an Assistant Professor. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in May 2008, and also has a M.Acc. and B.S.B. in accounting from Miami University (OH). In addition to his public accounting experience with the Boston office of Deloitte and Touche, Cam brings seven years of university teaching experience to UNT, where he will be teaching auditing and accounting information systems courses. He is a Certified Public Accountant and member of both the Institute of Internal Auditors and Institute of Management Accountants. Cam’s research interests include knowledge management, information systems, and audit.

Gene Elrod

Gene B. Elrod joined the UNT faculty in the Department of Accounting as a Senior Lecturer in fall 2008. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Accounting this fall from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where he previously obtained B.B.A. and MBA, Finance degrees. Mr. Elrod is a Texas CPA, has received the Outstanding Teaching Award for Graduate Teaching Assistants from UTA, and brings five years of university teaching experience (UTA and Southern Methodist University) to the classroom. Gene has extensive work experience in public accounting, manufacturing, and technology firms. His accounting management experience includes employment in positions as a staff accountant, controller, and CFO of both private and public firms, and it also provides a rich background for his classroom work. Gene’s research interests are in the areas of financial reporting quality and the information content of narrative financial disclosures.

Dutch Fayard joined the faculty in the Department of Accounting at the University of North Texas in fall 2008 as an Assistant Professor. In August 2008, he received his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of South Carolina, where he also obtained an International M.B.A., Chinese Language Track. His B.S. degree in Ceramic Engineering was received from Clemson University. In addition to his varied educational background, Dutch brings five years of field experience with large chemical and petroleum customers to the classroom. His research interests are in the area of management control systems and inter-organizational cost management.

Patsy Lee

Patsy L. Lee ccame to the UNT faculty in fall 2008 as a Senior Lecturer, but she is not really “new” to UNT, since she earned both her MBA and Ph.D. degrees from our school. She also received a BA from UT-Austin. Patsy brings substantial teaching experience to her new position, since she has previously served on the faculty at the University of Denver, University of Houston-Clear Lake, Metropolitan State College of Denver, St. Edwards University, and for the past eleven years at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is also a CPA and has won four outstanding teaching awards. Dr. Lee teaches financial accounting, and her research interests are in financial accounting topics and pedagogical research.

Teresa A. Lightner joined the UNT Department of Accounting faculty as an Associate Professor in fall of 2008 and is designated the KPMG Faculty Fellow in Taxation. She received her Ph.D. and M.S.A. in taxation, plus a B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Oklahoma. Teresa brings 11 years of university teaching experience (University of Oklahoma, University of Georgia, and Texas Tech University) to the classroom and has received the University of Oklahoma Michael F. Price College of Business and School of Accounting Outstanding Teaching Awards. Her work experience includes tax accounting for an oil and gas company and managing several businesses she started from the ground up. Dr. Lightner’s research interests are in the areas of dividend taxation, the effects of taxation on corporate distributions, and state taxation. She has published several articles in the Journal of the American Taxation Association, a premier accounting journal.

Jesse Robertson

Jesse C. Robertson joined the Department of Accounting in fall 2008 as an Assistant Professor. He received his Ph.D. in accounting in August of 2008 from The University of Alabama, and additionally holds a B.S from the University of Kentucky and an M.B.A. from Morehead State University. Further, he is a licensed CPA. Jesse served as chief accounting officer for a commercial bank before entering his doctoral program. Dr. Robertson will be teaching accounting information systems and audit courses at UNT. His research interests include auditor judgments and investor perceptions of financial disclosures, and he has published in the Managerial Auditing Journal and CPA Journal.

Lili Sun began as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting at UNT in fall 2008. She comes to us after being on the faculty at Rutgers University the past four years. Lili received her Ph.D. in accounting and information systems from the University of Kansas in 2004, where she also received the Doctoral Student Teaching Award and Best Doctoral Dissertation Award. She also holds a B.A. degree in accounting and finance from Peking University in China. She brings eight years of university teaching experience to the classroom and will teach financial accounting at UNT. Lili’s research interests are in the area of financial accounting and auditing, and some of her publications include, Auditing, A Journal of Practice and Theory and European Journal of Operational Research.
