Dr. Barbara W. Altman is Assistant Professor of Management with the College of Business Administration at the University of North Texas, Dallas campus. This is a new position created in Spring 2004 to recognize the growth of this new campus and the need for full-time faculty. Previous to this position, Dr. Altman was an Executive Lecturer in the Department of Management at UNT's main campus in Denton. Dr. Altman teaches Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility, Entrepreneurship, International Management and Organizational Design and Change. She teaches in both the undergraduate and MBA programs. Her new responsibilities also include helping coordinate and recruit students for the management programs on the Dallas campus.

Dr. Altman's research interests focus on the increasing roles corporations are taking as global corporate citizens. Within this framework, she is interested in exploring how companies change to meet their new citizenship goals, the impact of these changes on executive development and stakeholder management, and the interplay between corporate governance and business ethics. Recently she has expanded her interests to the field of entrepreneurial ethics.

Dr. Altman has published articles in the Academy of Management Executive, the Journal of Organizational Change Management, and Business and Society Review. She was co-editor of a special volume of Business and Society Review, published in January 2000, on "Corporate Citizenship for the New Millennium." She has presented her work at numerous business and academic conferences around the world. She has served for many years as a Senior Research Associate with the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship. Locally, she serves as an expert reviewer for the annual North Texas Business Ethics awards.

Dr. Altman holds a Doctoral degree in Business Administration from the Boston University School of Management, where she gained Beta Gamma Sigma distinction. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin, where she gained Phi Beta Kappa distinction.

Dr. Barbara Altman is a great teacher, counselor, and mentor to our students. With her passion for ethic behavior and principled leadership, Barb is a wonderful role model for her colleagues and all of our students that work with her.
