Farris, Ted

Associate Professor

Department of Marketing & Logistics

Dr. Ted Farris is an Associate Professor in the Marketing and Logistics Department. He joined the UNT faculty in 1997 to help grow the Professional Program in Logistics.

Dr. Farris received a B.S. in Business Administration and a Certificate in City and Regional Planning from Arizona State University, an M.B.A. in Materials Logistics Management from Michigan State University, an M.A.B.A. and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University concentrating in Business Logistics and Management Information Systems.

Prior to pursuing his Ph.D., Dr. Farris was employed by the IBM Corporation, and INTEL Corporation. His industry experience includes Purchasing, Traffic, New Logistics Development, Materials Systems, and Inventory Planning and Control.

Dr. Farris' research interests are Supply Chain Mapping, "Real" Options in Supply Chain Management, Cash-to-Cash, and Transportation regulation.

Ted Farris has been an integral contributor to the now nationally recognized success of the UNT Logistics program almost since the program begun. Dr. Farris is a true triple threat. For starters, he is flatout a great teacher, a professor who challenges his students to be their best. Not surprisingly, many of his former students are now rising stars in companies as diverse as Verizon, Lockheed-Martin, Frito-Lay, and Ryder Logistics. Farris is also a prolific researcher. He has published extensively and consistently in each of the top three journals in the Logistics discipline.And finally, Ted is a great colleague.He plays a strong leadership role in the Department, and is fun to be around.
