The Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Health (MPH) and the Master of Health Care Administration (MHA) do have similarities. One can find successful health services administrators with any of these degrees. All these degrees can be found in the leading health care management programs. MPH programs tend to prepare students for work as biostatisticians, community health educators, epidemiologists and health administrators in the public sector. MHA programs train students for careers as health services executives while emphasizing health care content throughout the program. MBA programs teach students the skills and knowledge required for developing solid functional management expertise by integrating content from traditional business disciplines (e.g., accounting, finance, marketing, management, decision sciences). This management core is then complemented by specialized courses in health care. MBAs often pursue careers as health care executives, consultants, or entrepreneurs.
As part of the health services concentration elective coursework, students can pursue field experiences and internships in a variety of health care settings in the DFW Metroplex. Our graduates have completed field experiences with hospitals, managed care organizations, and health care consulting firms.
