PLP announces partnership with Success North Dallas

DENTON (UNT), Texas--The University of North Texas' Professional Leadership Program, or PLP, is partnering with the group Success North Dallas for networking and to mentor UNT students.

Renée Hebert is director of UNT's PLP. She said she was introduced to Success North Dallas about a year ago and recently pursued a partnership. "They will provide us business contacts, mentors, consistent support and assistance with introducing PLP to the business community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area," said Hebert.

Bill Wallace, president of Wallace Financial Group and the founder of Success North Dallas, said the partnership is good not only for PLP but his group as well. "We learn as much from the students as they learn from us. They give us a boost of enthusiasm and we give them our network where they can share their goals and develop mentoring opportunities," he said.

"Success North Dallas' goal is to facilitate a mentorship for every member of UNT's PLP," Wallace added.

Success North Dallas began in 1988 as a breakfast gathering of 14 individuals, each of whom embraced Wallace's idea of meeting monthly to serve as an informal mentor group for each other's respective businesses. It has evolved into a group of highly achieving individuals who convene monthly for presentations on topical issues in the business, economic and political environments.

UNT's College of Business Administration founded the Professional Leadership Program in 1994. It is a cooperative effort between UNT's College of Business Administration and corporate sponsors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The program is open to juniors, seniors and graduate students regardless of academic major. PLPs goal is to help UNT students make the transition "from backpack to briefcase" by providing weekly educational workshops, corporate networking opportunities and executive mentors to students.
