Audit Control Language (ACL) Software Helps Student's Careers

The Department of Accounting was recently awarded $200,000 from the ACL Education Futures Program. It is used by UNT professors as a "computer aided audit tool" and helps UNT professors teach the concepts and effective use of data analysis software in accounting, auditing, and finance disciplines.

Dr. Paul Hutchison, Interim Chair of the Accounting Department said, “Due to the hard work this summer of Dr. Mary Curtis in our department, UNT is very fortunate to be awarded the market dominant software used by auditors. Dr. Curtis says, "Students frequently comment on how their skills using ACL software has helped prepare them for employment." Dr. Curtis went on to say, "having this skill helps students advance in their place of employment and makes UNT look good in the marketplace."

ACL is strongly committed to supporting academic communities with leading technology solutions to meet the changing needs and demands of today’s audit and compliance professionals. ACL believes that the future of the finance and audit professions relies on the quality of education and training students receive at universities and colleges.

The UNT Accounting Department is proud to be one of only seventeen programs in North America to receive this gift and is listed on the ACL website at http://www.acl.com/educationfutures/.
