Name: Elizabeth Adams
Hometown: San Antonio, Texas

Expected Graduation Date: December 2015

Why did you choose to study at UNT?
I chose UNT for several reasons. I liked the community culture, I loved the number and quality of programs that UNT offered, and I heard good things from friends and family members about the caliber of education that UNT provides. All of this weighed in on the decision, but as a transfer student I was more focused on where I knew I was going to spend most of my time - the business program. With this in mind, when I toured the Business Leadership Building and began to learn more about all the things the CoB has to offer, I became excited to start classes and to begin learning about what all opportunities were going to be open to me. Soon thereafter I decided that UNT was the place for me.

Why did you choose your major? What are your career goals?
My grandfather was one of the first "Logisticians" following World War II, and I grew up hearing about some of the amazing things he had done that had immense impact on the Armed Forces. I also love multidisciplinary thinking and problem-solving, so when I came to UNT and found out that there was a Logistics program, I excitedly thought "Yes! Sign me up!" Thus far it has been a wonderful experience, and as I have interacted with some of the wonderful faculty members here in the CoB and learned more about the field and how it incorporates so many different elements of business and analytics I have decided that I want to pursue a career in logistics consulting and go on to pursue my Ph.D. and become a logistics professor in future.

What advice would you give to a student interested in the College of Business?
Explore all the opportunities that UNT CoB has as soon as possible and start determining how best to take advantage of them to help you fuel your dreams and goals. Read through the website, talk to your professors, advisors, and upperclassmen, find out what student associations, resources, or special programs your department has, etc. The opportunities available are tremendous so the earlier you start the more you can get to benefit from in the time before you graduate.

How has the College of Business impacted your success as a student?
My time in the College of Business has been truly invaluable. I have had wonderful experiences learning from some truly exceptional faculty members who have helped me not only understand their course material, but also better understand the industry I am preparing to enter and what I want to pursue for my future career. The academic and career events that the CoB organizes have been a tremendous blessing as well. I have gotten to interact with employers repeatedly, attend workshops on graduate opportunities, hear insight from speakers in the upper echelon of the business world, and even learn proper etiquette tips for professional dinners. All in all the CoB has greatly aided me in building my skills and opening my eyes to potential opportunities so that I can start the next phase of my life (after graduation) with a solid foundation and the tools to reach my goals.
